In June 2009, in cities around the world, people will be riding bikes naked to celebrate cycling and the human body. The World Naked Bike Ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against car culture.
The fourth Brighton Naked Bike Ride will take place on Sunday 14 June 2009. Meet on The Level at noon (time to be confirmed) for pre-ride body-painting and bike decoration.
400 riders took part in 2008, 200 in 2007, 160 in 2006, and more are expected in 2009. As of the 2007 ride, following negotiations with Sussex Police, full nudity is permitted at the event.
The ride will finish at Black Rock naturist beach for a post-ride swim and picnic.
Participants can also join the London ride the day before.
