BCC Extra New Year Monthly Meeting

Come and get involved in this [extra!] 2008 planning meeting!

We'll be looking forward to 2008 and planning campaigns, events and action for the year.

On the agenda:

• What better new years resolution than to give some of your time to help plan and carry out the urgent awareness raising and campaigning work that needs to take place to counter the imminent threat of climate change!
• As was begun a couple of meetings ago we've decided to show films and have discussions about them during meetings to keep ourselves informed on the Issues surrounding climate change.
• This month we'll be measuring up our opposition and diving into the belly of the beast with 'The great global warming swindle' - The contraversial documentary aired on channel 4 a few months ago with the aim of disproving human contribution to climate change. We feel its important to be familiar with counter - arguments, especially this film which was so widely watched - so we can debate successfully on these issues with the public. Despite political and scientific consensus on climate change and its causes, doubt still exitsts in the public mind surrounding the causes of climate change due to films such as this and other sources of bogus science. After watching there will be time for discussion about the film.
• We'll also be planning our programme of activities and campaigns for the new year - followed by continued chat in the Evening Star pub afterwards.

Lets hope 2008 will be the year the world finally wakes up to the enormous threat of climate change and takes some real action!
