Local resources

The brightonactivist.net site hosts an up-to-date list of local media contacts . We also keep a list of local venues frequently used by activist groups on this site.

If this is not enough you can use the Community Base's Brighton and Hove venue search. Community Base encourage local activist groups to make use of their Brighton and Hove volunteer search database.

Resource Centre hire out equipment to to not-for-profit community or voluntary groups based in Sussex, print leaflets or posters, fundraising, reference library and information sheets, about community organising, database of local contacts and information useful for organisers.

 

Guides for activists and other online resources

The SchNEWS DIY guide has guides and links on a whole range of topics, from tunneling, over researching companies to what to do when you get arrested during direct action. The SchNEWS contact database can be searched for national and international (mainly alternative) press contacts.

Libcom.org host a library with very helpful guides including demonstrations ; community organising ; workplace organising ; direct action , and others.

The activists' legal project have infosheets, including bust cards. They also have carefully selected links to other sites (general, direct action, and more) and organise workshops.

The Seeds For Change Network give advice on an extensive list of issues activists and NGOs face, from dealing with the media to fundraising.
